"This house is truly a labour of love."

OUR STORY — A LABOUR OF LOVE

We built it as a summer home while we were working and living in Kolkata. It was a special place for us — a quiet retreat where we could slow down, enjoy the garden, and escape the pace of city life.

But as the years went by, we found that the house was lying vacant for much of the time. We eventually decided to open our doors to travellers and visitors, and turn our summer home into a homestay.

What began as a simple idea has grown into a wonderful experience. Over the years, we have had the pleasure of welcoming guests from different parts of India and from around the world. Each guest has brought their own story, and many have left as friends. Their presence, conversations and experiences have become a cherished part of the story of our home.

The house and garden have also evolved gradually over the years. Every corner has been shaped with care, and there is something deeply satisfying about watching the place grow and change with time.

Today, my husband and I are retired and have returned to Shillong, but our love for hosting has not diminished. We still enjoy welcoming people, sharing our home, and helping our guests feel comfortable and at ease.

For us, this homestay is more than simply a place for travellers to stay. It is a home filled with memories, surrounded by a garden we have nurtured over the years — and we are happy to share it with you.

Warm regards,
Farida Nongkynrih
